PORTLAND AIRPORT

All campers flying to camp must fly in and out of the Portland airport.

Maine has many camps and is also a popular vacation state. Flights do fill up. Please take care of your daughters' travel plans right away. Please provide us with the flight information at your earliest convenience. Wendy Peck will have the flight information for those of you in the Philly group.

DEPARTURE: Campers flying to Maine should arrive at Portland airport between 11:00AM and 4:00PM on June 25th, 2010. Please check your daughter in for her flight AT LEAST two hours before flight time. Due to increased security, please check with your airline to see if your daughter needs a picture ID.

Your daughter will be met at the security checkpoint as they leave the arrivals area (since counselors will not be allowed to go through security).

PACKING: Luggage is permitted on the Portland flights. Make sure your daughter’s name and address is on each bag. Campers are limited to two duffel bags or two large suitcases. We must ask that your daughter's carry-on be LIMITED to a backpack holding last minute items and snacks.

Have campers wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring a sweater for the plane.

RETURN FLIGHTS: Return flights from Portland at the end of camp should leave between 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM on August 13th, 2010.

(Exception: Bunk 11 campers staying for MAIN IDEA. Please see Bunk 11 section below.)

*** BUNK 11 ***

If your daughter is planning to stay for MAIN IDEA, book the return flight for Monday, August 30th from Portland. Planes should leave Portland between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM. We know that some girls may have a conflict with the start of school. However, your daughter must be able to stay until at least August 26th for the experience to be worthwhile.

If your daughter has to leave before the 30th for school, she must fly out of Portland. Please notify Camp Walden that your daughter will be staying for MAIN IDEA as soon as possible.

*** BUNK 12 ***

Note that your daughter comes to camp on Tuesday, June 22nd. Flights into Portland must arrive between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM. Please be aware that all Bunk 12 comes into camp together. We would rather not make the group wait too long for late flights to arrive.

Luggage is permitted on the Portland flights. Make sure your daughter’s name and address is on each bag. A counselor will meet your daughter at the security checkpoint (since they will not be allowed to go through security).

If you are DRIVING TO PORTLAND AIRPORT we will meet your daughter at the baggage claim area between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

PACKING INFORMATION

***** ATTENTION PLEASE *****

ALL CAMPERS NOT FLYING INTO PORTLAND MUST SHIP THEIR LUGGAGE AHEAD OF TIME.

If you are using UPS for your daughter’s luggage, please ship it in time to arrive at camp the week of June 14th. We will ship luggage UPS - COD on August 13th. If you are going to be away, please give us an alternate address where it can be paid for upon delivery.

Bags can be sent to camp with Camp Trucking. For more information, visit www.camptrucking.com.

Campers are limited to two duffel bags or two large suitcases only.

We suggest that you pack all bulky and heavy articles in a duffel bag. All personal items, including clothing, should fit in a large suitcase or another duffel. We are making a concerted effort this summer to keep our bunks clear of unnecessary belongings this summer. Please help us by limiting the amount of clothing, bedding and excess “stuff” that your daughter packs. The packing list in the uniform catalog should serve as a guide. If you have any questions about whether or not your daughter will need a particular item, please contact us. BE SURE YOUR DAUGHTER'S NAME IS ON EVERYTHING.
