Accreditation

Camp Walden is proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association. ACA accreditation indicates Walden has voluntarily allowed and successfully completed a through review of its operation.

American Camp Association collaborates with experts from The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at Walden reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.

At least once every three years, an outside team of trained camp professionals observe the camp in session to verify compliance with nearly 300 standards for health, safety, and program quality.

ACA standards establish criteria for

* Living Areas
* Food Service
* Emergency Preparedness
* Program Practices
* Health Care
* Personnel (directors, staff, counselors)
* Transportation
* Administrative Procedures

Additional specific standards are applied to aquatic activities, horseback riding, adventure challenge courses, and travel and trip programs.

ACA standards are recognized by courts of law and government regulators as the standards of the camp industry and are the best evidence parents have of a camp's commitment to a safe and nurturing environment for their children

Walden is also a member in good standing with the Maine Youth Camping Association and the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.
